Additionally, the site has a variety of articles on current trends and reports re: hunting and fishing. There is also a variety of forums that are actually kept up-to-date by avid site users who make regular posts.

• Current trends and hunting and fishing reports
• Current weather conditions with 3 and 7 day forecasts (you can search any zip code for local weather)
• A multi-layered forum where you can pick which topics you want to view/contribute to
• Links to other resources and websites containing hunting/fishing information in Minnesota

• No search box for finding specific information
• Small text and poor spacing in certain sections clutter the website
• Extremely difficult to become a registered menu (poorly constructed form, multiple e-mails needed, approval by an administrator--not immediate--required to join).
• Need approval to post topics and pictures on the site/forums

The site we are designing will have to be much more user-friendly and oriented for sportsmen who want quick and easy access to information.

Up-North Outdoors hosts a comprehensive website with detailed information regarding hunting and fishing in Minnesota, Canada and surrounding states (Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Michigan). The website has a plethora of information for amatuer and seasoned outdoorsmen alike, including links to places, guides, articles, tournaments, resorts, specific fishing reports by lake and state (i.e., Lake Bemidji in Minnesota, or Devil's Lake in North Dakota, etc.), outfitters, classified ads, forums, specific species hunting (i.e., grouse, ducks, geese, deer, etc.) and DNR information.

Benefits of this Site:

• Easy access to information via image links to article, ads, etc.
• Up-to-date reports posted by sportsmen and resorts
• Simple navigation from one part of the site to the next
• Links to other sites for information that this site does not provide
• Site is updated daily

Drawbacks of the Site:

• Too many advertisements--becomes distracting
• No way to know if links to outfitters, etc., are local until you access them
• No search box for locating specific information
• Long list of links with no specific information on what they're about (you must access them to find out)

The site we are designing has concepts similar to this website, but additions to our site may include maps of public hunting lands, lake maps, and features, as of yet, undecided. Additionally, our site will focus almost exclusively on the Bemidji area.
