Money Person - Manferd (Keeping up with the Joneses)

Manferd is a business professional that has been in industry for over twenty years. He has climbed the ranks of his company and understands the benefits of having the best equipment and being the best at what he does. He drives a 2008 Lexus RX 330 and lives in a prestigious community.

As a business professional, Manferd is well aware of changing technology and benefits of staying at the top of the tech curve. All of his neighbors always call him first before they buy new technology, because they know if he doesn't have it, they shouldn't either.

Manferd wants to know

  • What is the newest technology
  • What are the different functions of a camera
  • What functions are the best
  • What accessories are the best

Cost is not part of the consideration, if the desired product is too expensive they will wait until they can afford it. Quality and having the best camera is the most important aspect. Considered an early adopter will want newest technology as soon as its available.

Also interested in best accessories.

Accountant - Susan (Penny pincher family photographer)

Susan is an Accountant that has recently graduated with a B.S. in Accounting and an Emphasis in Accounting Information Systems. She recently purchased a used, low mileage, 2006 Limited Edition Rav4 and lives in a small middle class neighborhood.

As an accountant she understands the importance of quality, but is not willing to spend any more than absolutely necessary. When she needs to make a large purchase she will shop early and long until she finds the best deal. Her Information Systems emphasis has provided her with the background to understand the details of new technology and learn the most effective ways to implement them.

Susan wants to know

  • What are the different functions of a camera
  • What functions are the best and how do they compare to the older functions
  • What accessories are required
  • How much does brand effect the cost

Concerned about the ratios. Quality versus cost, wants high quality but doesn't want to spend any more than absolutely necessary. Possibly a discount shopper, gets the earlier generation products if the quality is acceptable. This individual is savvy enough to understand photography is a complicated art and wants a wide range of possibilities for uses for her camera. Probably won't buy excessive accessories. Either understands or is willing to learn lingo and advanced functions.

Technologically Inept - Gary (Happy to be alive)

Gary is an individual that enjoys searching for new jobs that require minimal training and experience. He drives an old Geo Tracker with over 200,000 miles on it, but it was a steal! He lives in an acceptably safe rental unit with a couple of roommates from high school.

Gary is a fun loving guy but gets confused easily. His biggest concerns typically involve too many beers with too few hands. He enjoys his parties but needs a good way to remember what happened, unfortunately any new technology Gary uses, must be very simple with few buttons.

Gary wants to know

  • What is the cheapest
  • What is the simplest camera
  • How do I
    • Set the camera to auto mode
    • Transfer pictures to my computer
    • Print pictures
    • Share pictures with friends
  • Can you explain that big word to me

Concerned about lowest cost and effort. Quality is secondary as long as the faces are identifiable it is good quality and was on sale! This person will never intend on taking the camera off of auto mode, but may need instructions on returning it to auto mode. Limited research will accept the Wal-Mart employees sales pitch at face value. Most important feature is the on button.

This person needs an easy way to connect the camera to the computer to transfer/print pictures. Needs simple instructions with simple words and pictures.
