- Goal in mind as viewer... that you are there to look into actually attending this college.
- Focus on 'small' campus- 7,600 students.
- Quote from current (or perhaps graduated) student- tone
- Postcard- Top 5 reasons- teaser to get you to look closer.
- Requirements- tests, aid, housing... in order. Deadlines included. Prompt to be on time with paperwork. Being talked down (like a parent). How else would they know what to do?
In Postcard:
- tone shift, boom boom boom with facts they think high school grads would be interested in- FADS! like the list of clothing shops and resturaunts.
- stereotypes!
- contradictions- save money on tuition to spend on area activities.
- borrowing from pop culture in structure of list
Community:
- repetition of shopping and resturaunts... all popular destinations!
- quote testimonial in right hand column- long and encompassing everything in list
- basic same as top five but without financial info
- life without actual college life (parties, dorm life, tuition and homework)
- nothing that appeals to those who enjoy reading, outdoor life, more tranquil atmosphere than the city... it's a big city community! (which would drive me nuts...)
Housing:
- limited info unless you continue on to res life site
Note: It's funny for me to look at the Moorehead site with all of these activities to do when I have friends who attend the college and actually come here to Bemidji for things to do because at least for them Fargo/Moorehead is BORING! I'm constantly told it's nothing special and there's nothing to do in either of the cities (maybe it's a case of once you've done it one time it gets old).
- What does the site expect the viewer to value?
