Tuesday
- the subject of posts (get specific: not just "personal" but "ruminating on wedding plans")
- consider, too, what the rhetor is not posting about
- the length of posts (short, long, really long, varies - and if varies, according to what, as you can tell?)
- frequency of posting (every day, less than, more than, regular, irregular)
- occasions for posting - as you can infer from the posting itself: what seems to be driving the choice to post?

General Stuff (not that important)
- hard to navigate
- links are highlighted (as if with a highlighter), colors are highlightery, but muted
- header stays same
- likes to address readers directly
Some content...
- actually talks about rhetoric
- lots of links
- topics are varied from personal to current events (worked at BBC, now yahoo)...sometimes they blend between personal and work-related
- very passionate
- more conversational than professional, perhaps
- very few images
- rarely mentions family
- only mentions biological father in family links - updates on his search for father
- what he's thinking about
- He posts about things that are interesting to him, whether it be through work or music. He takes (some) pictures of himself or the subway station, because they're interesting. He allows comments, and reacts to them.
Length of Post
- posts are long, short, and often just a list of links
- link posts are usually shortest
Frequency of Posting
- posts are almost every day, sometimes more than once a day
- allows comments and gets a lot
- responds to comments
- archives show more frequent posting earlier (many times daily in Nov 2002)
- Posting frequency varies. It seems to be mostly for himself (venting), but could also be for his readers. It appears that he has many by the frequency of comments.
Occasions for Posting
- posts to keep readers updated
- personal interests - could be work-related
- promotes Nina Simone's music (because he likes it)
- links often to external links (copies and pastes titles as links)
- archives by category
- older links are often to BBC articles
- posts mostly finished articles
Categories...
- his best post are divided into categories
- some categories have many more posts (categories are more important)
Linking
Links in Blogging
http://www.geofftech.co.uk/iblog/
Notes
- obsession with all things apple
- old posts have few comments, new ones have hundreds
In Text
- intext links are often phrases in the writing
- links often to wikipedia pages to define his subject (annotate)
- links to other blogs, referencing something he's already discussed (sources)
- many links to BBC. zooming in, we think. (enhance/amplify) (He's an employee.)
- offers some comentary on links (either link text is a word or a phrase in a sentence, or it is explained in some way).
Photo
- posts contain 1(+) images, some of which are linked
Both?
- In some posts, the intext and photo links end at the same target.
Specific Examples
- In Jaffa cake post, intext link leads to wikipedia; photo leads to Jaffa cake website.
- In post about Friends, he links to the Friends' website, to the specific episode that he'd been wriing about. (source)
