Elements > FacebookQuestionsForRhetoric

  • Which elements make for strong indicators of identity? Photo? Political orientation? Others?

  • Which elements do users seem to use to form a network? Identity information? Tagged photos?

  • What can we tell about the rhetorical context of BSU from the Facebook profiles?

to investigate

  • Look at topics are typically mentioned on The Wall: range of topics, and what topics do not occur
  • Look to who is being addressed on The Wall: to what extent is the profile addressed, and to what extent are others posting to The Wall - and to what end.
  • Look towards the status of the identity being addressed on The Wall. To what extent is information from Facebook being addressed, and to what extent is extra-Facebook information mentioned - and to what end?
  • One describer noted that Wall messages made reference to f2f interaction. Look at the relationships between convos/messages on The Wall and real world interaction.
  • Look at the grammaticaliy / tone / stylistic features of messages on The Wall: Is there a grammar of The Wall?
