Hello world (is this phrase becoming trite yet?)Class stuff: ![]() That's Chicago for you... I'm a student; a writer, actually. I'm a knitter/crocheter, a pianist, a budding pennywhistle player, a gamer, a geek, an editor, a stargazer, and a poet. And I'm sure I'm missing stuff, too. My interests tend to be based on the creation of things: music, art, whole new worlds, even. And yes, I still believe in magic. Creation is magic. Making something appear that wasn't there before, that's magic. Provoking emotion, making someone's life a little richer for your being there, that's magic too. I started out in science. But science is too bound by rules and reason--imagination takes a back burner to logic. That's not to say that I don't believe in logic; I know the rules apply. But I guess I just believe that reality is malleable and can take whatever form you want to give it. In Charles de Lint's books, there's a concept called "consensual reality", meaning that the world exists as it is because people agree that's how things are. Makes just as much sense as anything else. Angel? September 12, 2005, at 11:00 PM |
