Amy's Wiki

This Wiki was created during the Fall 2003 semester at Bemidji State University in an English Methods class taught by Professor Mark Christensen. These are the essays I wrote during the semester.

Sometimes We Write About Tremmel

Zen and the Practice of Teaching English, by Robert Tremmel, is a crucial book in our class. It appears that this is where we will grow from throughout the semester. These are my reflections on the chapters we read. I'm always hoping to see something new that I've never considered or known about - PLEASE - if you have any comments on the ideas I have presented share them!

We Try until it's True

This is a book that is straight up all about structure and content ideas for teaching English. It's an okay book. I consider it to be one of those books you use when you run out of your own ideas, so you read this book to quickly save yourself - or use it just to help develop your own original ideas. I wonder if it helps people with chronic run-on sentences?

When the Professor Makes You Cogitate

The intentions of this assignment are to see how past experiences in English classes and with English teachers affected our choice to become teachers - here's mine:

This is a place where you can comment on anything you see on this Wiki or don't see for that matter. If you spot something that you think might catch my interest - leave the web address, book title/author, or whatever it is here. Of course if you are in my AWESOME class I can also receive this info on CAL. If there are things you think I should think about, contemplate, wrap my brain around - post it here. It's pretty hard to offend me, so bring on those new perspectives. You get it
